From decline to record growth: How Devold hit best ever online sales in 8 weeks

When Devold New Zealand met Patchwork, online sales were in sharp decline. Previous ad campaigns were not working, and traffic from Google and Meta had dropped dramatically. Alongside re-building email marketing automations to better reflect the premium nature of this brand, optimising conversions at key customer journey points, our task was to rebuild PPC advertising, reduce ad-spend wastage and grow revenue.

In just eight weeks we had completed a full website and marketing audit, improved product metadata, tagging and keyword copywriting, created new (high-search-volume) product collections, identified and fixed historical SEO issues and implemented new systems to avoid future issues. Devold’s visibility in both paid and organic search jumped. Results were remarkable. From being absent in key categories to appearing first on page one for high-volume terms such as “women’s merino tops”, "cycling jerseys" and “men’s merino leggings.”

We also designed and styled new email templates, rebuilt automated flows, and delivered campaigns that generated significant revenue with double the previous open and click rates. At the same time, we recommended, implemented and promoted online, an end-of-season sale to remain competitive. This helped drive Devold’s best-ever month of online sales in August 2025.

Alongside growth, we defined positioning within the New Zealand and Australian markets, quietly fixed site errors, improved user experience, and ensured Devold’s premium positioning was reflected at every touchpoint. The result: a rapid reversal of declining performance and a stronger foundation for long-term digital growth and future PR storytelling.
